Rheinmetall starts production of unmanned combat boats in Hamburg
The German defense group Rheinmetall is expanding its portfolio and has begun the manufacturing of unmanned combat boats effective immediately. The production site for these new maritime systems is located in the Port of Hamburg.
The decision to establish production in Hamburg underscores the growing importance of autonomous technologies in the defense industry. Unmanned boats are increasingly being developed for surveillance tasks, the protection of infrastructure on the water, and special military operations.
By utilizing modern technology, these boats can perform tasks without the need for a crew on board to be put in danger. With this move, Rheinmetall is responding to the rising global demand for automated defense solutions that are flexible and efficient to deploy.
With this step, the Düsseldorf-based company strengthens its position as one of the most important players in the German defense industry. The new capacities in northern Germany are intended to help further advance technological development in the field of unmanned systems.
