Xbox App launches on select TCL smart TVs
There is good news for many video game fans in Germany: Microsoft is now bringing its official Xbox app directly to select smart TVs from the manufacturer TCL. This makes it possible to play modern video games directly on the television without the need for an additional console.
The new feature is based on what is known as "Xbox Cloud Gaming." Users only need a "Game Pass Ultimate" subscription to access a large library of games. The games are streamed over the internet instead of being installed directly on a device.
To use the service, players simply need to connect a compatible Bluetooth controller to their television. The app is available for specific TCL models that have the corresponding operating system. This makes gaming easier for users, as there is no longer a need for expensive hardware to sit under the TV.
With this move, Microsoft is further expanding its cloud gaming offering. The company's goal is to make video games accessible to a wider target audience that does not want to buy a classic game console. Whether other TV brands will follow in the future remains to be seen.
