German firms' 'Made for Germany' investment initiative pledges €800 billion
More than 130 major German companies have pledged to invest over €800 billion in Germany by 2028 under the new "Made for Germany" initiative, aiming to revive Europe's largest economy and strengthen business confidence.
The initiative brings together 139 companies and investors that have committed to expanding investments across Germany over the next several years. Business leaders say the massive financial commitment reflects growing confidence that the country's economy can return to stronger and more sustainable growth following a prolonged period of weak performance.
The investment plan is expected to support infrastructure projects, industrial modernization, innovation, digital transformation, and the expansion of manufacturing capacity. Companies believe these investments will help create jobs, improve Germany's competitiveness, and encourage long-term economic development.
Leading executives welcomed recent economic reforms introduced by Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government but stressed that additional measures are still needed. They called for further reductions in bureaucracy, more flexible labor regulations, and policies that make Germany a more attractive destination for domestic and international investment.
Business leaders also noted that international investor confidence has improved in recent months, with further discussions planned between the government and corporate representatives to advance additional reforms.
