Sustainability in Schools: Teacher from Ratingen Represents Germany at European Festival
A teacher from Ratingen in North Rhine-Westphalia has successfully represented Germany on an international level. Vanessa Koelbel traveled to the largest European STEM festival to present a special project. STEM stands for the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The project presented is titled “Our School Should Become More Sustainable.” The aim of the initiative is to firmly integrate environmental protection into everyday school life. In the process, students learn how to find practical solutions for ecological problems using technology and science.
The European STEM festival is considered the most important platform for teachers from all over Europe. Here, innovative teaching concepts are presented and discussed. The fact that a teacher from Ratingen was selected to represent Germany there is seen as great recognition for her pedagogical work.
Such projects are becoming increasingly important in German schools. They show that modern education and climate protection can go hand in hand. The experiences from the festival are now intended to help inspire other schools in the region to achieve greater sustainability.
