Digital help for patients: Nia Health and AbbVie partner on atopic dermatitis care
The Berlin-based company Nia Health, a spin-off of the Charité, is entering into a new partnership with the pharmaceutical company AbbVie Germany. The goal of the collaboration is to further improve care for patients with atopic dermatitis through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Nia Health is already known for its app, which is the most frequently used application for people with atopic dermatitis in Germany. The app supports those affected in better understanding their symptoms and documenting the progression of the disease. Through the cooperation with AbbVie, this digital support is now set to be further expanded.
The application uses AI technologies to provide individual guidance to patients. For example, users can upload photos of their skin lesions or record their daily symptoms in the app. The software analyzes this data to identify potential triggers for flare-ups and provide patients with helpful tips for everyday life.
The collaboration between the start-up and the pharmaceutical company demonstrates how important digital solutions have become for the German healthcare system. By combining medical expertise with modern technology, the aim is to improve the quality of life for people with chronic skin diseases in the long term.
