Microsoft confirms disruption to Exchange Online
Many users and companies in Germany experienced difficulties sending and receiving emails today. The cause is a technical disruption to Microsoft's Exchange Online service, which has significantly impaired email traffic.
The American technology corporation has since officially confirmed the issue. Users increasingly reported error messages indicating a "Server Busy" status. These messages meant that external emails could not be delivered as usual.
For companies that rely on Microsoft services for their daily communication in particular, the outage caused delays in workflows. IT departments in many German firms had to react to the disruption at short notice, as email delivery to external contacts was blocked.
According to Microsoft, they are already working at full speed on a solution to make the services fully available again. Affected users should check over the coming hours whether their emails are resent automatically after the error is resolved or whether manual sending is necessary.
