Record Heat of 41.7 Degrees & Six Dead in Stade
Germany is under the influence of extreme weather conditions and serious security incidents. While new temperature records are straining health and transport, police are reporting a homicide case with six victims in Lower Saxony. Additionally, security authorities are recording an increase in politically motivated extremists.
Prepare for persistent heat and potential vehicle breakdowns, as a new record of 41.7 degrees was reached in Brandenburg. The ADAC (General German Automobile Club) is currently recording significantly more call-outs due to the extreme temperatures. After a brief cooling period, the German Weather Service (DWD) expects temperatures of up to 31 degrees again in the Upper Rhine region as early as the coming weekend.
In Stade (Lower Saxony), a violent crime occurred at a youth welfare facility on Monday, in which six adults were killed by gunfire. Police have launched investigations at the social facility, which is intended to support young people.
At the same time, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution – the agency for protecting the democratic basic order – is warning of a growing number of extremists. According to the latest report, the number of left-wing extremists has risen to 42,200 people nationwide. Parallel to this, organized crime is coming into focus, with gangs increasingly active in drug trafficking and extortion.
