Rheinmetall starts production of unmanned combat boats in Hamburg
The German defense group Rheinmetall is expanding its portfolio and has begun the production of unmanned combat boats effective immediately. Manufacturing is taking place directly at the Port of Hamburg, one of Germany's most important logistics hubs.
The new boats are operated without a crew and are designed for various military tasks. Through the use of modern technology, these systems are intended to operate flexibly and safely in different waters. With this move, Rheinmetall is responding to the rising demand for automated defense systems.
The Hamburg location offers strategic advantages for this project. Proximity to the water and the existing industrial infrastructure allow the company to test the boats on-site and prepare them for deployment. This strengthens the group's position as a significant player in the European defense industry.
With this step, Rheinmetall is setting a new focus on maritime security technology. Experts are closely monitoring the development of unmanned systems, as they could change the way modern naval units operate in the long term. The company plans to further expand production in the coming months.
