New ownership structure at TenneT Germany: KfW acquires stake in power grid operator
The German power grid operator TenneT Germany has undergone a significant change in its ownership structure. As the company announced, the planned equity transactions have been successfully completed. In addition to international investors, the state-owned Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) is involved in the new structure.
KfW is officially acquiring a 25.1 percent stake in TenneT Germany. This step is of great importance for the Federal Republic, as TenneT is one of the four major transmission system operators in Germany. Through this participation, the state secures direct influence over the expansion and stability of the national power supply.
In addition to KfW, international partners such as APG, GIC, and NBIM are also investing heavily in the company. A total of up to 9.5 billion euros in equity is flowing into TenneT Germany. These financial resources are primarily intended to finance the necessary investments in the energy transition and to expand the power grid for the future.
The reorganization of the ownership structure is considered an important milestone for German energy policy. With financial support from the state and international partners, the aim is to ensure that the infrastructure meets the increasing demands posed by renewable energies. The parties involved emphasize that this transaction strengthens long-term planning security for the German power grid.
