Mark Wahlberg: Action Movie Becomes a Surprise Hit on Netflix
US actor Mark Wahlberg is currently the center of attention on the streaming platform Netflix. Although his latest science-fiction action film was rated very negatively by critics, it landed straight at number one in the film charts in Germany. This phenomenon clearly shows that bad reviews cannot always prevent a film's success with the general audience.
The film tells the story of Evan McCauley, played by Mark Wahlberg. Evan suffers from strange memories and dreams that he cannot explain. He possesses skills he never learned and remembers places he has never been. Later, he learns the secret behind these visions: the memories come from his past lives, and he belongs to a special group of people.
Many film experts describe the plot as illogical and criticize the execution of the story as "atrociously bad." Despite these harsh words, the German audience seems to be very curious. There is a lot of discussion about the film on social media, which continues to drive viewership numbers up. Often, people watch such productions precisely because they want to see if the criticism is justified.
The film's success highlights an interesting trend in the modern media world. Well-known names like Mark Wahlberg attract viewers almost automatically, regardless of the quality of the content. For Netflix, the film is a major commercial success, as it proves that action movies with big Hollywood stars can reach an audience of millions even without positive reviews.
