Warning against dubious weight loss products: Experts shed light on "Slim Coffee"
On social media and various websites, providers are currently advertising so-called "Slim Coffee" products intensively. These are claimed to help with rapid weight loss without the need for a change in diet or physical activity. Experts from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt have now examined these products more closely and are warning consumers about false promises.
Scientific analysis shows that the advertised effects of these coffee blends are often not supported by clinical studies. Many of these products contain ingredients whose effect on the human metabolism has not been scientifically proven. Furthermore, the ingredient lists on the packaging are often incomplete or misleading, which can pose a health risk to consumers.
The researchers view the manufacturers' marketing strategies as particularly critical. Fake testimonials and manipulated before-and-after photos are often used to gain the trust of customers. Consumer advocates in Germany emphasize that there are no "miracle cures" that can replace a healthy diet and regular exercise. Those who buy such products usually just lose money without achieving their desired goal.
The experts advise being particularly cautious with such offers on the internet. Anyone wishing to lose weight in a healthy way should instead consult qualified nutritionists or their family doctor. Those interested can also find reliable information on healthy weight loss from official bodies such as the Consumer Association (Verbraucherzentrale) or the German Nutrition Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung).
