More women for triathlon: Ironman launches new initiative "Woven"
The organizer of the well-known Ironman triathlons has launched a new initiative called "Woven." The goal of the project is to inspire more women to take up the sport of triathlon and to make it easier for them to get started in this demanding discipline.
With this campaign, the organizers primarily want to make the stories of female triathletes more visible. By presenting successful athletes as role models, the threshold for beginners is intended to be lowered. The sport, which consists of swimming, cycling, and running, is thus meant to become accessible to a broader target group.
Triathlon is also very popular in Germany, but the proportion of women at the starting lines in many competitions is still significantly lower than that of men. The "Woven" initiative addresses exactly this point, aiming to promote the participation of women in Ironman events worldwide through targeted information and a stronger community.
Beyond visibility, the company is also focused on breaking down practical barriers. Through better support and a more welcoming atmosphere at competitions, the sport is to be made more inclusive. The organizers hope that these measures will lead to significantly more women finding their way to triathlon and achieving their athletic goals in the coming years.
