Significant delays in Greek patients' access to new medicines
According to recent data published by the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE), Greek patients are facing serious difficulties in accessing innovative treatments. The data shows that the wait for the release of new medicines in our country can reach up to two years.
The study reveals that patients in Greece have immediate and seamless access to only one in five new medicines approved by European agencies. This means that the majority of innovative formulations are not immediately available to those who need them.
Experts point out that the waiting time is a critical factor for patients' health, as the delay in administering modern treatments can affect the course of their disease. This situation is causing concern within the medical community and among patient associations.
The issue of access to medicines remains one of the most important topics in the field of public health in Greece. The relevant authorities are called upon to examine ways to accelerate approval and reimbursement procedures so that patients can receive the necessary treatments without unjustified delays.
