Celebrating Bastille Day in Athens: The strong ties between Greece and France
The French Embassy in Athens celebrated France's national holiday, known as Bastille Day, on Tuesday. The event took place in the garden of the Byzantine and Christian Museum, bringing together representatives from politics, diplomacy, and culture.
During the event, the outgoing French Ambassador, Patrick Maisonnave, referred to the importance of the strategic relationship between Greece and France. He emphasized that the two countries share common values and work closely together on issues of security, defense, and European policy.
Bastille Day, celebrated every year on July 14th, is the most important national holiday for the French people, as it marks the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. The choice of the Byzantine Museum for the celebration underscored the cultural dialogue that has been developing between the two states over time.
The presence of many official guests confirmed the warm climate in bilateral relations. The speeches delivered during the evening highlighted the need for continuous cooperation within the framework of the European Union in order to address modern challenges.
The celebration concluded with a reception, where those present had the opportunity to discuss the future of Greek-French friendship. The event served as an important moment for reaffirming the strong alliance that has connected the two countries in recent years.
