New 4-magnitude earthquake disturbs northern Evia
Residents of northern Evia were unsettled on Tuesday morning following a 4-magnitude earthquake. The tremor occurred in a sea area near the island and was felt in several parts of central Greece.
According to data from the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter of the tremor was located a few kilometers off the coast of Evia. The focal depth of the earthquake was shallow, which explains why it was felt significantly by residents of the surrounding villages.
So far, local authorities have not reported any serious damage to buildings or injuries to citizens. However, residents of the area remain on alert, as the region has exhibited intense seismic activity in recent days.
Expert seismologists are closely monitoring the phenomenon to determine whether this is the main earthquake or part of an aftershock sequence. Citizens are advised to follow the instructions of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and to avoid staying in old buildings as a precautionary measure.
