Concern over migrant smuggling networks: Greece's preparedness
Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, recently referred to the ongoing activity of migrant smuggling rings. Taking the developments in Ceuta, Spain, as an occasion, he emphasized that these networks remain active and are constantly seeking new opportunities to illegally transport people onto European soil.
According to Mr. Plevris, the situation at the external borders of the European Union requires constant vigilance. The rings exploit every opportunity to exert pressure, which makes it necessary for all member states to fortify their borders.
The Greek government declares itself ready to take all necessary measures to protect the country's borders. The guarding of land and sea borders remains a priority, with the goal of preventing illegal crossings and confronting organized smuggling networks.
The management of the migration issue remains a critical matter for Greece, as the country is on the front line of migratory flows. The authorities continue to monitor developments closely, collaborating with European agencies for security and stability in the region.
