Major fire at the Badminton Theater in Goudi
The Fire Department was alerted this morning due to a major fire that broke out in the old Badminton Theater building, located within the Goudi Metropolitan Park in Athens. Local residents were alarmed by the thick black smoke that covered the sky, while explosions were also heard from inside the building.
Strong firefighting forces were immediately mobilized to deal with the incident. Authorities issued a warning message via the 112 emergency number to citizens near the area, asking them to avoid the vicinity and keep their windows closed due to the suffocating atmosphere.
According to initial information from the Fire Department, the fire was contained within the theater premises, preventing the risk of it spreading to the rest of the park or surrounding facilities. The building, which had been abandoned for some time, suffered very serious damage from the flames.
Competent authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the fire. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far, as the building was not being used for events at the time of the fire.
