Difficult conditions due to strong winds in Greece
Authorities in Greece remain on alert as strong winds blowing in many parts of the country are causing serious problems. Weather conditions remain particularly difficult, affecting the daily lives of citizens and the operations of the relevant services.
The Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, emphasized that the gale-force winds are significantly hindering the work of the fire brigade. These conditions make the situation dangerous, as the risk of fires breaking out and spreading remains high.
One of the biggest problems facing firefighting teams is the inability to use aerial assets. Due to the intensity of the winds, firefighting planes and helicopters cannot fly safely, which limits the possibilities for immediate aerial intervention.
Authorities are calling on citizens to be particularly careful and to avoid any activity that could cause a fire. Civil Protection is constantly monitoring the development of weather phenomena and is on standby to provide assistance wherever it is deemed necessary.
