Greece on high alert due to approaching heatwave
Greece is facing an intense heatwave, as temperatures are expected to rise significantly over the coming days. According to meteorological forecasts, the mercury will reach 40 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country, creating difficult conditions for residents.
The high temperatures will not be limited to daytime hours, as the heat will persist throughout the night. The prolonged duration of this phenomenon requires particular caution from all citizens, especially from vulnerable groups of the population, such as the elderly and young children.
Alongside the heat, authorities are warning of a very high risk of wildfires across the entire territory. Dry and hot conditions, combined with the winds, make the environment extremely vulnerable, which is why citizens are asked to be particularly careful and avoid activities that could cause a fire.
Civil Protection is in full readiness to deal with any incident. Citizens are advised to regularly monitor updates from the authorities, avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during midday hours, and remain in cool places to protect their health.
