Operation to repatriate Greek passenger from cruise ship due to virus
Greek authorities are in the midst of a special operation for the medical repatriation of a Greek citizen. The passenger in question was on board the cruise ship MV Hondius, where concerning health incidents occurred.
According to initial information, the Greek citizen was diagnosed with hantavirus, a virus transmitted primarily through contact with rodents. The passenger's health condition was deemed necessary to be treated in a specialized hospital environment, which led to the immediate mobilization of the competent services.
The cruise ship MV Hondius is following all necessary health protocols to protect the remaining passengers and crew. Authorities are working closely with the ship to ensure there is no risk of further spread of the virus to the other people on board the vessel.
The repatriation of the patient is a priority for the Ministry of Health, which is closely monitoring the development of the situation. It is expected that the citizen will be safely transported to Greece, where they will receive appropriate medical care at a reference hospital.
