US Congress support for the Greece-Cyprus electrical interconnection
Significant support for the electrical interconnection project between Greece, Cyprus, and Israel is coming from the United States. Members of the US Congress recently expressed their position in favor of this major energy project, emphasizing its geopolitical and economic importance for the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
American lawmakers directly link the electrical interconnection to the broader Economic Corridor connecting India with the Middle East and Europe. According to reports, this project is considered critical for energy security and stability, as it will allow for the transmission of electricity between the three countries.
This initiative strengthens the role of Greece and Cyprus as energy hubs in the region. Connecting the electrical grids is expected to reduce the energy isolation of the islands and promote the use of renewable energy sources, while simultaneously offering new economic opportunities.
The intervention by Congress shows that Washington is closely monitoring developments in Mediterranean energy issues. This support is considered a positive step for advancing plans concerning cooperation among the countries of the region with the backing of the US.
