New international postgraduate program at the University of Ioannina focusing on "One Health"
The University of Ioannina is launching a new, innovative postgraduate program titled "One Health Education for Global Sustainability." This program represents a significant initiative for Greek higher education, as it combines scientific research with contemporary global challenges regarding sustainability and public health.
The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Sofia Zacharaki, attended the presentation of the program. During her speech, she emphasized that Greece is systematically investing in public universities with the goal of making them more outward-looking, international, and competitive on a global level.
The subject of "One Health" recognizes the close connection between the health of humans, animals, and the environment. Through this postgraduate program, students will have the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge that is essential for addressing crises such as pandemics and climate change.
The creation of such programs strengthens the position of Greek universities on the international academic map. At the same time, it offers young scientists the appropriate tools to operate in an environment that requires interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative solutions for the future of the planet.
