Significant reduction in refugee flows in Greece
There is a significant decline in data concerning the arrivals of refugees and migrants in our country. According to official government announcements, the number of people reaching the Greek borders has decreased dramatically compared to the past.
Data shows that in 2015, approximately 890,000 migrant arrivals were recorded. In contrast, for the year 2025, the corresponding number was limited to 48,000. This means that the total reduction in refugee flows reaches 94% within a decade.
Special mention was made of the situation prevailing on the Aegean islands, and specifically on Lesvos. While in the past the island hosted approximately 19,000 migrants, today this number has decreased significantly, as only 277 people remain on the island.
The government emphasizes that the measures taken in recent years have contributed decisively to border control. The management of the migration issue remains a priority, with the goal of ensuring security and the smooth functioning of local communities on the islands.
