IRIS²: The new European satellite network for secure communications
The European Commission has officially announced the launch of the full implementation of IRIS², an ambitious program for the creation of a new European satellite network. The goal of the project is to provide secure and reliable communication services throughout the European Union, strengthening its digital sovereignty.
This network will offer advanced connectivity capabilities while protecting sensitive data from cyberattacks. This technology is considered critical for government services, security infrastructure, and emergency response, as it will operate independently of terrestrial networks.
Greece is expected to play a significant role in this new endeavor. Due to its geographical location and increasing activity in the aerospace technology sector, our country possesses comparative advantages that can be leveraged to support the IRIS² network.
Greece's participation in this program represents an opportunity to strengthen the domestic technology industry. Through cooperation with European entities, the country aims to develop new infrastructure and train specialized personnel in the field of satellite communications.
In conclusion, IRIS² represents a significant step for the future of European technology. With its full implementation, Europe will gain a powerful communication tool, while Greece strengthens its position on the global map of space technology.
