Historic moment for Thessaloniki: Works begin on the port's 6th Pier
The Port of Thessaloniki (ThPA) is entering a new era. After a 30-year wait, the expansion of the 6th Pier is finally beginning to take shape in the Thermaic Gulf. This is a historic project expected to significantly change the economic map of Northern Greece.
The construction of the 6th Pier is considered the most critical project for the port's development. Upon its completion, Thessaloniki will have the capacity to accommodate much larger container ships. This will make the port much more competitive compared to other major ports in the Mediterranean and the Balkans.
This project is not only important for transport but also for the local economy. The expansion will create new jobs and boost trade throughout the region. In this way, Thessaloniki strengthens its role as a central hub for the transport of goods to Central and Eastern Europe.
The commencement of works is a particularly positive development for the country. After three decades of planning and delays, the vision for a modern and international port in Northern Greece is beginning to materialize, offering new prospects for the future of the Greek economy.
