New desalination plant in Amorgos to meet water needs
An important piece of infrastructure for the island of Amorgos was inaugurated on Sunday, July 19. It is a new desalination plant located in Katapola, which is expected to significantly improve the daily lives of residents and visitors.
The new facility has the capacity to produce 1,050 cubic meters of drinking water on a daily basis. In this way, the island gains a stable and reliable source of water supply, effectively addressing the increased needs that arise, especially during the summer season.
The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, attended the inauguration ceremony. His presence underscored the importance of the project for the local community and the security of infrastructure on the Greek islands.
This investment is part of a broader effort to modernize water supply networks in the Cyclades. Ensuring access to clean drinking water is a priority for the development of island regions and the protection of the environment.
