Concern over oncology drug shortages in Greece
The Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO) has sent an official letter to the Minister of Health, expressing its deep concern regarding the recent withdrawal of drugs from the Greek market. The issue specifically concerns oncology formulations that are essential for the treatment of cancer patients.
According to HeSMO, the withdrawal of critical drugs creates serious problems in daily clinical practice. Doctors emphasize that patients are struggling to follow their treatment plans, a fact that puts their health and the effectiveness of their treatment at risk.
Representatives of the oncologists are asking the Ministry of Health to take immediate measures to address the phenomenon. The goal is to ensure patients' continuous access to necessary medications, avoiding similar situations in the future that cause disruption in the country's hospitals and clinics.
The Ministry of Health is expected to examine HeSMO's request, as the issue of drug shortages is a priority for public health. The medical community remains on alert, awaiting concrete solutions for the normalization of the market and the protection of vulnerable patient groups.
