Athens' response to Turkey regarding the Special Spatial Planning Framework in the Aegean
The Greek government has provided an official response to Turkey regarding the new Special Spatial Planning Framework for industry and supply chains. The issue arose following reactions from Ankara, which challenged the Greek positions on the use of maritime space in the Aegean.
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs clearly emphasized that the status of sovereignty in the Aegean is based exclusively on international treaties. According to the Greek side, the country's positions are fully aligned with International Law and are not subject to questioning by third countries.
Athens accused the Turkish side of attempting to create tensions, underlining that planning for industrial development is an internal matter for Greece. The Greek authorities maintain that every action concerning Greek territory is carried out with full respect for the country's sovereign rights.
This situation highlights once again the importance of adhering to international rules for maintaining stability in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that Greece will continue to defend its rights while remaining open to dialogue, provided it is based on respect for International Law.
