“Achilles’ Shield”: Greece acquires a new anti-aircraft dome in cooperation with Israel
A significant agreement in the field of national defense is set to be signed on Monday between Greece and Israel. The project, which has been named “Achilles’ Shield,” concerns the creation of a modern anti-aircraft and anti-missile dome that will significantly strengthen the protection of Greek airspace.
The total cost of the program amounts to 3.1 billion euros. According to the planning, the completion of the project is expected to take 35 months. This agreement is considered of strategic importance, as it upgrades the country’s defense capabilities against modern threats.
Particular emphasis is placed on Greek participation, which will exceed 700 million euros. Through this investment, the Greek defense industry will acquire valuable know-how, while our country secures full access to the source code of the systems, which allows for the control and independent management of the technology.
The implementation of the anti-aircraft dome is part of a broader plan for the modernization of the Armed Forces. With the completion of the procedures, Greece will possess one of the most advanced protection systems in the region, strengthening its position on the geopolitical chessboard of the Eastern Mediterranean.
