Over 70,000 home visits by the Mobile Health Units (KOMY) across Greece

Significant data regarding the upgrade of Primary Health Care (PHC) in our country was recently presented by the Alternate Minister of Health, Eirini Agapidaki. During her visit to the 1st Open Care Center for the Elderly (KAPI) in Ilion, the Minister referred to the work of the Mobile Health Units (KOMY), which offer services to citizens who have difficulty moving.

According to official data from the Ministry of Health, the KOMY have carried out more than 70,000 visits throughout the Greek territory. These teams consist of health professionals who travel to patients' homes, providing medical monitoring and care to individuals who cannot easily visit a hospital or a health center.

This initiative is part of the new strategy for strengthening public health, aiming for better access for all citizens to quality services. The presence of these teams in local communities, such as in Ilion, is considered decisive for the prevention and support of the elderly and the chronically ill.

The leadership of the Ministry of Health emphasizes that strengthening home care is a priority for the new era of the National Health System. By continuing these actions, the goal is to decongest hospitals and provide more direct and human-centered care to the citizens who need it.
