Free preventive skin cancer screenings throughout Greece
The Alternate Minister of Health, Eirini Agapidaki, announced the launch of a new program for free preventive skin cancer screenings. This initiative aims at the early diagnosis of the disease and informing citizens about the risks of sun exposure.
The program will be implemented throughout the Greek territory, giving thousands of citizens the opportunity to be examined by specialized dermatologists at no financial cost. The screenings will be carried out in collaboration with public health facilities and private clinics participating in the action.
According to the ministry's guidelines, prevention is the most important tool for combating skin cancer. Experts emphasize that regular examination of moles can save lives, as skin cancer is fully curable when detected in the early stages.
Interested citizens will soon be able to book their appointments through a special digital platform. The process will be simple and fast, in order to facilitate the participation of as many people as possible, regardless of their age or place of residence.
This action is part of the broader framework of government efforts to strengthen public health and promote prevention. The Ministry of Health calls on citizens to take advantage of this opportunity and prioritize their health by scheduling their check-up in the coming period.
