Uncertainty has "frozen" investments and jobs in Greece
A new study by the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) sheds light on the impact of economic instability during the debt crisis in our country. The results of the research show that uncertainty was one of the main factors that hindered economic growth.
According to the data, economic uncertainty is responsible for one-third of the investment gap observed in Greece. Businesses, fearing future developments, avoided proceeding with new plans and investments, a fact that significantly slowed down the market recovery.
Furthermore, the study highlights the serious consequences for employment. Approximately 40% of the jobs lost during the crisis period are directly linked to the climate of insecurity that prevailed. The lack of confidence in the economy led many companies to reduce their staff or stop hiring.
The conclusions of IOBE underscore how important stability is for a country's prosperity. Creating a predictable economic environment remains critical for attracting investment and maintaining jobs in the future.
