Prime Minister's Visit to the Civil Protection Operations Center
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management of Civil Protection. The purpose of the visit was to receive a detailed briefing on the progress of the wildfires affecting various regions of the country.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was updated by the relevant authorities on the situation at the fire fronts. Those in charge presented data regarding the firefighting efforts being made by the Fire Department forces and volunteers in the field.
Civil Protection remains in a state of increased readiness, as weather conditions and high temperatures are hindering the work of the firefighters. The goal of the authorities is to contain the outbreaks before they spread to residential areas or forest lands.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of coordination between all involved agencies for the protection of human life and the natural environment. Authorities continue to closely monitor the development of the fires, while citizens are urged to be particularly careful and to follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
