Ukraine's request to Greece for the provision of Patriot missiles
The government of Ukraine has sent an official request to the Greek side, asking for the strengthening of its air defense. According to reports, Kyiv is requesting the supply of PAC-2 type missiles, which are used in Patriot systems.
The request concerns up to 200 missiles, which are considered critical for the protection of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from ongoing air attacks. The Ukrainian side estimates that this reinforcement will significantly help in addressing the challenges faced on the front line.
The Greek government is examining the request, taking into account the needs of national defense and the country's international commitments. Discussions are ongoing, as the situation in Ukraine remains particularly critical for the security of the entire European continent.
The provision of military equipment to conflict zones is a complex issue for many European Union countries. Greece, as a NATO member, participates in the dialogue regarding support for Ukraine, balancing between humanitarian aid and the defensive shielding of the country itself.
It is expected that there will be more official announcements regarding Athens' decision in the coming days. The issue remains at the center of diplomatic news, as the international community continues to monitor developments in the war.
