Fraud in Arcadia: Con artists swindle 40,000 euros and gold sovereigns from a 70-year-old woman
A serious case of fraud recently took place in the Arcadia region, where a 70-year-old woman fell victim to con artists. The perpetrators, using deception, managed to extract a very large sum of money and valuable items from her.
According to police information, the scammers contacted the woman pretending they wanted to help her catch other criminals. Under this false pretext, they convinced her to gather all her savings and hand them over, promising that the money would be safe.
The elderly woman, believing their story, handed over 40,000 euros in cash, as well as 100 British gold sovereigns. As soon as the perpetrators took the money and the valuables, they disappeared, leaving the woman alone.
Authorities have launched an investigation to locate the perpetrators and dismantle the criminal group. The police emphasize once again the need for citizens to be particularly careful and not to trust strangers who ask for money or personal details, even if they claim to represent the authorities.
This case serves as a reminder to everyone, especially the elderly, to always contact local police authorities or relatives before making any decision involving their money.
