Significant presence of women in the Greek agricultural sector
According to recent data for 2023, women in Greece are playing an increasingly active role in the management of agricultural land. The data show that women manage nearly a quarter of the country's arable land.
More specifically, the percentage of agricultural land under female management in Greece reached 23.9% last year. This figure is particularly significant, as it exceeds the average of European Union countries.
At the European level, the corresponding percentage of women managing agricultural holdings stood at 17.2%. This difference of 6.7 percentage points highlights Greece as one of the countries with a strong female presence in the primary sector.
The increased participation of women in agricultural work is a positive development for the Greek economy. This trend underscores the dynamism of women in rural areas and their contribution to the country's production process.
