Major wildfire in Vilia: Difficult hours for Porto Germeno
An alarm has been raised in the Vilia area, as a major wildfire is currently underway, directly threatening the settlement in Porto Germeno. Local residents are experiencing difficult moments, as the fire has already caused serious damage to homes and has affected the local fauna.
According to statements from the regional vice-president, the situation remains extremely critical. The flames have destroyed at least three houses, and anxiety regarding the progression of the front remains intense, as strong winds are hindering the efforts of the firefighting forces.
Aerial assets operated early in the morning, performing water drops, however, they were forced to withdraw shortly thereafter. The very strong winds blowing in the area make safe flight for firefighting planes and helicopters impossible, limiting the possibilities for aerial intervention.
Ground forces of the Fire Department continue to battle the flames, attempting to contain the fire front and protect citizens' properties. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, while residents are urged to follow the instructions of officials for their safety.
