Dimitris Koutsoumbas emphasizes the role of the KKE as the "real opposition"
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, recently gave an important interview to Radio Thessaloniki. During the discussion, Mr. Koutsoumbas referred to the current political situation in Greece and the role his party plays in the Greek Parliament.
Mr. Koutsoumbas emphatically stated that the KKE constitutes the only real opposition in the country today. According to him, the other opposition parties often agree with the government's basic directions, a fact that leaves a gap in the substantial representation of workers and the popular strata.
The leader of the KKE explained that "real opposition" means proposing solutions that serve the needs of the people rather than the interests of large corporations. He emphasized that his party is on the streets and in workplaces every day, supporting the citizens' demands for better wages, free education, and public health.
Furthermore, Mr. Koutsoumbas criticized the government's economic policy, arguing that high prices are seriously affecting Greek households. He mentioned that the KKE will continue to push for measures that will relieve citizens from the high cost of living and taxation, proposing specific changes to the legislation.
Closing his interview, Dimitris Koutsoumbas called on citizens to trust the KKE to strengthen their voice inside and outside of Parliament. He argued that strengthening the party is the only way for a substantial change in Greece's political life to occur and for the rights of society to be protected.
