Prime Minister visits Civil Protection Operations Center regarding wildfires
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Civil Protection Operations Center to be briefed in detail on the progress of the forest fires affecting the country. The visit took place as part of the coordination of state services to address the fire fronts.
During the briefing, the Prime Minister spoke with the Center's officials regarding firefighting efforts. The relevant agencies presented the situation on the active fronts, emphasizing the difficulties caused by weather conditions, such as strong winds that hinder the work of firefighting forces.
The discussion focused on the operational planning for the protection of residential areas and forest lands. Mr. Mitsotakis underscored the importance of the immediate response of ground and aerial assets, as well as the critical role of coordination between the Fire Service and local authorities.
The government is closely monitoring the development of the situation on all fire fronts across the country. Authorities remain on full alert, while citizens are urged to strictly follow the instructions of the relevant agencies for their safety, as the fire season is at a critical stage.
