Increased readiness of Greece to address migrant smuggling networks
Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, recently referred to the ongoing activity of migrant smuggling rings, emphasizing that Greece remains in a state of readiness. According to him, recent developments in Ceuta, Spain, prove that these networks are constantly seeking new opportunities to operate.
Mr. Plevris underlined that any country located on the front line of the European Union's borders faces similar challenges. Smugglers exploit geopolitical conditions, attempting to create new routes for the illegal entry of people into Europe.
The Greek government declares its determination to take all necessary measures to fortify its borders. The goal is to prevent illegal activities and ensure security, both for the country's citizens and for the wider region.
Despite the pressures exerted on Europe's external borders, Greek authorities continue their efforts to control migratory flows. The situation is being closely monitored, while cooperation with European agencies remains of central importance for addressing the problem.
