New European Commission concern over the rule of law in Greece
The European Commission has recently expressed new concerns regarding the state of the rule of law in Greece. At the center of the report is the handling of the wiretapping case, which has sparked intense debate both within the country and at the European level.
According to the report, the competent authorities have not made satisfactory progress in the investigations into the Predator spyware scandal. The European Commission emphasizes that the lack of transparency and the delays in judicial proceedings create problems for citizens' trust in institutions.
The issue of surveillance of political figures and journalists is a central topic for Brussels. European institutions are calling on the Greek government to take concrete measures to ensure the independence of investigations and the protection of citizens' personal data.
The government, for its part, states that it is cooperating with European authorities and that the judiciary is working independently to fully clarify the case. At the same time, it emphasizes that legislative changes have already been made to strengthen the operational framework of the intelligence services.
The coming period is expected to be critical, as European bodies will continue to closely monitor developments. This case remains one of the most important issues on the agenda of Greece's relations with the European Union.
