Crete at the center of space technology with a new ground station
Greece is taking a significant step in the field of space technology, strengthening its presence with a new investment in Crete. The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) has secured the creation of a new ground station, which will serve as the communication hub for Greek microsatellites.
This station will allow our country to manage and communicate with its satellites directly from the island. It is a strategic move that upgrades Greece's capabilities in the fields of telecommunications and Earth observation from space.
The choice of Crete for this infrastructure is no coincidence, as FORTH already possesses the necessary expertise and scientific personnel to support such complex programs. This investment is expected to boost research and innovation in the region, attracting the interest of the international scientific community.
With the completion of the project, Greece will have the ability to better monitor the data collected by satellites, contributing to areas such as weather forecasting, environmental protection, and natural disaster management. This development is part of a broader national plan to strengthen the Greek space strategy.
Overall, the creation of the ground station at FORTH marks a new era for the country's technological development. Crete is now establishing itself as a critical hub for space activities, offering new prospects for scientific progress and economic growth.
