The presence of George Gerapetritis at the UN General Assembly
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Gerapetritis, is in New York to participate in the proceedings of the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations (UN). The Greek minister's presence is part of a series of diplomatic contacts taking place on the sidelines of this important international meeting.
On Friday, Mr. Gerapetritis is participating in the ministerial meeting of the "Group of Friends for the Safety of Navigation." This issue is particularly critical for Greece, as our country possesses one of the largest merchant fleets in the world and the safety of maritime transport is a priority for the national economy.
During his stay in New York, the minister is expected to have meetings with his counterparts from various countries. The goal of these contacts is to strengthen Greece's bilateral relations, as well as to discuss current issues concerning the international community and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Greece's participation in such international conferences confirms the country's active role in international diplomacy. Through dialogue and cooperation with other countries, the Greek side seeks to promote stability and security, while simultaneously protecting its national interests in a changing global environment.
