“Achilles Shield”: Greece acquires its own anti-aircraft dome
An important national defense agreement is set to be signed on Monday between Greece and Israel. The project, which has been named “Achilles Shield,” concerns the creation of a modern anti-aircraft and anti-missile dome that will significantly enhance the protection of Greek airspace.
The total cost of the program amounts to 3.1 billion euros. According to the planning, the completion of the project is expected to take 35 months. This is a large-scale investment aimed at modernizing the country's defense systems against modern threats.
Particular importance is given to the participation of the Greek defense industry, which will exceed 700 million euros. The agreement also provides that Greece will have access to the source code of the systems, a fact that ensures the country the ability to control and upgrade the technology according to national needs.
The signing of this agreement constitutes a critical step for the shielding of the country. With the implementation of “Achilles,” Greece strengthens its position in the region, investing in cutting-edge technologies that offer greater security and operational autonomy.
