Greece on high alert due to heatwave and fire risk
Greece is on high alert starting today, as a powerful heatwave hits the country. Civil protection authorities have placed all services on standby in order to deal with the difficult weather conditions prevailing in many regions.
The combination of very high temperatures, dry winds, and low humidity creates a dangerous environment. Experts warn that these conditions significantly increase the risk of forest fires breaking out and spreading, making the situation particularly critical for public safety.
Citizens are urged to be especially careful and avoid any activity that could cause a fire in the countryside. Civil Protection advises residents to monitor official updates and strictly follow the authorities' instructions to avoid accidents.
Firefighting forces and volunteer groups are on full alert, conducting continuous patrols in high-risk areas. The goal is immediate intervention in the event that any fire outbreak is detected, so as to limit damage to the natural environment.
The situation is expected to remain difficult for the coming days, as meteorologists predict that high temperatures will continue. The cooperation of all citizens with the authorities is essential for the protection of forests and residential areas from the danger of fires.
