Traffic regulations in downtown Athens this weekend
Significant changes to vehicle traffic are expected in downtown Athens during the coming weekend. These regulations are deemed necessary due to the hosting of two major events that will draw crowds to the capital.
The first reason for the changes is the celebration of Saint Dionysius the Areopagite, which is an important religious holiday for the city. At the same time, the "Greece Race for the Cure 2026" will take place, a major sporting and social event aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer.
The traffic interventions will affect many central streets in Athens. Specifically, drivers should avoid traveling on Skoufa, Lykavittou, Dimokritou, Solonos, Sekeri, and Kanari streets, where parking and traffic prohibitions will be in effect for certain hours.
Authorities are calling on citizens to be particularly careful and to stay informed about the changes before traveling by car. The use of public transport, such as the metro, is recommended to avoid inconvenience and delays due to increased traffic on the surrounding roads.
