Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Christodoulides: A united front on the Cyprus issue
In a recent meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, the latest developments in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region were discussed. The two leaders underscored the importance of close cooperation between Greece and Cyprus during a period full of challenges.
Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that the "drums of war" are sounding loudly once again in our neighborhood, referring to the instability prevailing internationally. He assured the President of Cyprus that Greece remains practically by the side of the Republic of Cyprus, supporting efforts to resolve the national issue.
For his part, Mr. Christodoulides pointed out that the Cyprus issue no longer concerns only the two countries, but constitutes a European problem. According to him, it is now understood by all partners in the European Union that a resolution to the Cyprus issue is essential for security and stability in the region.
The two leaders agreed that diplomacy remains the primary tool for addressing difficulties. This meeting confirms the strong ties between Athens and Nicosia, as well as their common stance regarding international developments.
