Aiming to decongest Kifisos and combat telephone fraud
In recent statements, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrisochoidis, addressed two critical issues affecting the daily lives of citizens in Greece: the traffic problem on Kifisos and the surge in telephone fraud.
Regarding Kifisos, the minister emphasized that the government is working to improve traffic flow through the use of new technologies. Specifically, a data center is in operation that analyzes road traffic, with the goal of saving 25-30% of travel time for drivers. Mr. Chrisochoidis admitted that managing traffic on this particular motorway is a particularly difficult challenge.
At the same time, the minister referred to the serious problem of telephone fraud that plagues many citizens, especially the elderly. According to police data, the majority of perpetrators involved in these criminal activities belong to specific social groups, a fact that makes addressing the phenomenon more complex.
The police are continuing investigations to identify the rings behind these scams, while simultaneously intensifying efforts to inform the public. Citizens are urged to be particularly cautious and not to provide personal information or money to strangers who contact them by phone.
In conclusion, the government is prioritizing the improvement of road safety and the protection of citizens from crime. Interventions on Kifisos and actions against fraud are central pillars of the ministry's strategy for the coming period.
