Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Christodoulides: A united front on the Cyprus issue
In their recent meeting, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides discussed the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region. Both leaders underscored the need for close cooperation, as the geopolitical situation remains particularly tense.
Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that Greece is practically by Cyprus's side, noting that "the drums of war are beating loudly again." This statement reflects Athens' concern regarding the challenges facing the island and the need to maintain stability in the region.
For his part, President Christodoulides pointed out that the Cyprus issue does not concern only Cyprus, but has now become a European problem. According to him, it is now understood by all partners in the European Union that solving the problem is essential for the security of all of Europe.
The meeting between the two leaders confirmed the excellent relations between Greece and Cyprus. Both sides agreed to continue diplomatic efforts for the resumption of talks, with the goal of finding a just and viable solution within the framework of United Nations resolutions.
