George Gerapetritis: Greece negotiates with Turkey from a position of strength
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Gerapetritis, recently made statements regarding the course of Greek-Turkish relations. According to him, the situation between the two countries has changed significantly in recent years, with Athens now playing a leading role in developments.
Mr. Gerapetritis emphasized that the Greek side maintains the initiative in diplomatic contacts. This means that Greece is not simply following developments, but is shaping the framework within which open issues with the neighboring country are discussed.
At the same time, the minister underscored that Turkey is now called upon to respond to Greek proposals and initiatives. This stance by Athens, according to the government, proves that the country enters the dialogue from a position of strength, relying on its alliances and the strengthening of its national defense.
Greek diplomacy seeks to maintain calm in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, promoting dialogue for the settlement of disputes. The goal is stability in the region, always with respect for international law and the country's sovereign rights.
These statements come at a time when communication between Athens and Ankara remains open. The Greek government declares itself ready to continue discussions, while simultaneously maintaining a firm and decisive stance in defense of national interests.
